Different Cultures and Colours

6 Sep

So a few weeks ago I was very lucky to shoot a few gorgeous girls for their portfolio and setcards. I can’t publish all because it is for their agency, but here are a few photos:)
I really like the mix of girls, since in the Netherlands we have so many mixes, and 100s of different cultures. Its a shame that you can’t see that back in our magazines or TV. But then that goes for our stunning volupteous women as well.

Because either they are really big, or really skinny, where is the average size woman represented in there? Or as StyleHasNoSize says so beautiful ‘inbetweenies’. Come to think of it, I am pretty average!! A mix of Holland, Aruba, Surinam, Hungary and if we go a bit further down the tree you find Brasil and French. I am also a size 38/40 by 1.72. But.. we weren’t talking about me, but about these girls who are all trying to get a break in modeling and in the commercial and fashion world. I can’t post the most beautiful photos of the girls because they are for their setcards, but I think these are pretty cool to:)

Having said that.. Any mixed models and pretty, special girls living in the Netherlands feel free to contact me for the next upcoming Top Model of Colour!

xoxo

You know, that is the whole idea at Top Model of Colour, all nationalities, all colours, all mixes. Nothing wrong with blue eye and blonde, my own daughter is blue eyed and blonde, and I think everyone is beautiful in their own way. We are doing lots of castings this year, and i defenitely hope we will find more girls of different races and colours that would like to model!!

[…] Different Cultures & Colours blogged by Pink Press has captured the essence of beauty, either being really big or really skinny it does not matter. When we think of models, how many of you think of white models? We see many blonde hair, blue eyed women, 34 C, size 0, 2, 4 women. In this blog, it’s nice to see different cultures and colours models in different sizes expressed in photos. Though there are different ethnic groups, there’s still a lack of Asian American models in the main stream media. A handful inspirations of different styles of fashion come from the Filipino culture. I for the other hand, create new modern styles from the original traditional style. One tradition that Filipinos wear are barongs which are embroidered garments, usually worn for special occasions like weddings. I use the embroidery and sew it on to different article pieces that would compensate the colors and patterns of both article pieces. Though I don’t have any of my article of pieces but here’s a few photos of the original barongs and how they updated them and use it as an up-to-date fashion style. #gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } […]
